In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, join us on Tuesday, May 11th @6:30PM for a discussion with our panelists about the multifaceted experiences and identities of biracial Asian American women. We hope to create a space for education and conversation.

Our co-sponsor for this panel is Asian & Asian American Studies Certificate, UMass Amherst. AAASCP is an interdisciplinary program consisting of eight courses that provides students with (1) a thorough understanding of both Asian and Asian American histories, experiences, and contemporary issues and (2) multi-disciplinary and multi-method research, analysis, and critical thinking skills, both of which prepare students for the increasingly diverse, globalized, and interconnected world of the 21st century.

In this panel we will be joined by:
  • Lorenna Buck (she/her) is a Partner at the Boston Consulting Group, based in Boston and leads Sustainable Investing within BCG’s Private Equity practice.  Lorenna has led Diversity & Inclusion efforts for more than 15 years, during which she has focused on fostering open dialogue around taboo topics, developing innovative approaches to accelerate inclusion in the workplace, and helping clients diagnose and reimagine their own diversity & inclusion agendas.
  • Sonali Chigurupati (she/her) is biracial South Asian American from New York City. She is a senior Operations & Information Management major as well as a Spanish minor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. For the last three years she has been an Admissions Diversity Fellow at UMass Amherst during which time she worked on initiatives to increase the representation of historically marginalized communities on campus.
  • Jay Wong (she/her) serves as the Program Director for the MA Asian American Commission, the Community Engagement Specialist for Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, a member of Fall River’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and a full-time graduate student at UMass Boston studying Public Administration and Asian American Studies. She’s extremely passionate about connecting the AAPI community to government, advocating for ethnic studies, and helping mixed-race AAPI folks connect with their identities.
  • Jackie Waight (she/her) is a biracial Vietnamese American residing in Los Angeles, California. Jackie currently works as the Youth Services Coordinator at the Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) in LA, where she plans and implements low-cost/free programming to youth in LTSC’s affordable housing complexes and greater community. She is also a co-chair of the WCAPS Human Rights Working Group that works to empower, uplift, and amplify the voices of women of color in the field of human rights.
